TIPS AND SOLUTIONS

How to wear makeup without it wearing you!

When makeup is done right it is even-handed and enhances your features. The secret is all in the dosage and application technique. Follow these simple tricks and you too can attain the perfect balance and never cross the line between gorgeous and clown-like!

Foundation – Take off the mask and aim for sheerness

Foundation is used to even out your complexion, not cover it! Don’t apply it all over your face; you may end up looking like a plaster cast of your former self. Use it only where needed, such as the bridge of your nose, the corner of your eyes and on red spots on your cheeks. For a discreet and super easy application, blend one drop of moisturizer with your foundation. Once diluted, foundation is easy and smooth to apply.

Eye shadow – Focus on your eyes
Neon colours are great, but are not necessarily appropriate to all ages and personalities. If our personality tends to be reserved, using too much colour, neon or otherwise, can look overdone. When wearing bright or intense eye shadow, you should stay away from glittery or sparkly shadows. Learn which shades suit you best and don’t try to follow the latest trends and wear what’s best for you!

Mascara – No more clumps!

Usually, a single coat of mascara is enough to make your eyes stand out. As soon as you notice distasteful clumps forming on your lashes, use a cotton swap applicator to get rid of them. The goal is to create individually coated lashes, not clumps of sticky mascara. By doing away with clumps, your eyes will look wider and more natural.

Blush – You want a healthy glow – you don’t want to glow in the dark
Avoid, at all cost, applying a stripe that goes from your cheekbones to your temples, the effect is much too fake! Using a blush brush, apply blush in small circular motions to the fleshy part of your cheeks. Avoid shades that are too candy-like, the doll look is out, forever! Focus your choices on shades of peach or pinkish apricot for a more natural look.

Loose powder – A light dusting … no more!

Loose powder is used to mattify your complexion, not mask it! It should not appear obvious at first glance since too much powder emphasizes wrinkles and fine lines and looks overly made-up. When applying loose powder you should use a large powder brush or puff and shake off any excess. Keep application light for best results!

Basically, the goal is not to set the face but rather to enhance its features. Too much makeup tends to alter the face’s emotions and make you appear untouchable! Notice what you’re wearing when people complement you, that usually means that your makeup is particularly well done and worth repeating!
